What to Wear for Your Portrait Session

One of the biggest questions I get is:

"What should I wear?"

The good news is there isn't one right answer.

The goal is to wear something that feels like you.

Here are a few of my favorite recommendations:

Stick to timeless colors.

Cream, navy, brown, denim, olive, tan, dusty blue, white, and black all photograph beautifully.

Avoid large logos.

They can distract from what matters most—you.

Add texture.

Knit sweaters, denim jackets, linen dresses, leather boots, and cowboy hats all add visual interest without being distracting.

Think movement.

Flowy dresses, jackets, and layers create beautiful movement in photos.

Coordinate instead of matching.

Choose a color palette rather than identical outfits.

Wear something comfortable.

If you're constantly adjusting your outfit, it'll show in the photos.

Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel confident.

Confidence is always photogenic.
